Corrected Blues Schedule for the week of May 12th
I am sorry, but there was some
confusion regarding the Blue Divas show this Saturday. The divas at this show will be Dana
Moret and Lena Mosley. Annie Sampson will not be appearing this Saturday, but she will be part
of the Divas show on August 10th. Sorry for the misinformation, but it still should
be a great show with Dana, Lena, and the Tim Brisson Band. Enjoy the music.
Blues Schedule for the week of May 12th
The music around Sacramento this
year has been phenomenal, and this week the tradition continues. What can you say when you
have the immortal Eta James on Friday, Tommy Castro, fresh off his Entertainer of the Year
honor at the Blues Awards, on Saturday, and wine tasting and music on Sunday? God I love this
place! As I just mentioned, Friday evening Etta James performs at the Radisson
Hotel. If you missed out on getting a ticket for Etta there is a whole bunch of other great
shows that night. Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers perform at Louie s Lounge, while Lou DeLuca
plays at Constable Jack s, the Jeff Watson Band rips it up at Po Boyz Sports Bar, and
Marshal Wilkerson and Smoked Sugar lay down the soul at Zigatos. Saturday, in
addition to Tommy Castro performing at the Center for the Arts, Constable Jack s presents the
Blue Divas show. The divas are Annie Sampson, of Stoneground and Elvin Bishop fame, Dana Moret,
formerly with Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers and currently lead singer for the Mr. December
band, and Lena Mosley from the Sammies nominated Sacramento Blues Revue. They will be backed
by the Tim Brisson band, famous for being the backing band for Frankie Lee. Quite an all star
show. Also of note playing Saturday will be Kaye Bohler at the Torch Club and
the Bonedrivers performing at Louie s Lounge. Then on Sunday the Amador County
Wineries and the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society join forces for a Pre Jazz Jubilee event.
Jazz and blues bands will be playing, and there will be food as well as wine tasting at the
various wineries. This will be a great way to spend a warm spring afternoon. Be
sure to check out the Upcoming Shows section for information on this year s Sacramento Jazz
Jubilee. It is going to be a great one! The weather is great and we have fantastic
musical opportunities in our area, so quit sitting in that easy chair and go support those
establishments that still bring us live music. Enjoy the music everyone. If you
know of someone who enjoys blues music, and would appreciate this listing of gigs, please feel
free to forward it on. The addresses used to send out the Blues Gigs Schedule are never used
for non-blues related material, will never be sold, and are masked so that they will remain
private. Disclaimer:
This
list in no way represents
all of the blues gigs occurring in and around Sacramento. They
are merely the shows that I
would go to if I were able to clone myself. They are groups
or individuals that I personally
know put on a good show, or that I have heard good things about and want to see in the near
future.
